  1. 1

    Download and unzip

Download the extension below and unzip it. You'll get a folder named linkedask-extension. Keep it somewhere permanent (like your Documents folder) — Chrome loads the extension from this folder, so moving or deleting it removes the extension.
  2. 2

    Open your extensions page

Copy this into your browser's address bar and press Enter. (Browsers block websites from opening this page directly, so you paste it yourself.)On Edge use edge://extensions, on Brave brave://extensions.
  3. 3

    Turn on Developer mode

Flip the Developer mode toggle in the top-right corner. This is what lets you run an extension that isn't from the store yet. It's a standard Chrome feature — safe to leave on.
  4. 4

    Load unpacked

Click Load unpacked (top-left) and select the linkedask-extension folder you unzipped. The LinkedAsk icon appears in your toolbar.
  5. 5

    Pin it and sign in

Click the puzzle-piece icon in your toolbar and pin LinkedAsk so it's always visible. Then click the LinkedAsk icon and sign in with your account.
  6. 6

    Browse LinkedIn as usual

That's it. Open LinkedIn and use it normally — profile visits, reactions, and connections are captured automatically and show up on your dashboard.

Questions

Why isn’t this in the Chrome Web Store?

It’s in review. Until it’s approved, this direct install is the way in. Everything works exactly the same — you just load it yourself instead of clicking "Add to Chrome".

Is Developer mode safe?

Yes. It’s a built-in Chrome setting that allows extensions loaded from a folder rather than the store. You can leave it on with no downside. If you ever want it off, remove LinkedAsk first.

Which browsers work?

Any Chromium browser: Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, Arc, Opera, and Vivaldi. Firefox and Safari are not supported.

Does it change anything on LinkedIn?

No. LinkedAsk is read-only. It never messages, invites, follows, or posts on your behalf — it only reads the pages you already open and saves them to your own account.

The folder moved and the extension broke.

Chrome loads the extension straight from the folder. If you move or delete it, reopen chrome://extensions and Load unpacked again from the new location.
